Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
SZSE Releases is operated by Spare Matter Corp ("Spare Matter," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information about you when you use szse.io (the "Service").
2. Information we collect
We collect information in the following ways:
- Account information. When you register, we collect your email address and a hashed password managed by Firebase Authentication.
- Usage data. We record the number of full release translations you view each month to enforce free-tier quotas.
- Payment information. If you subscribe to Pro, your payment is processed by Stripe, Inc. Spare Matter never receives or stores your full card number, CVV, or bank account details. We store a Stripe customer ID and subscription status in our database.
- Automatically collected data. Our hosting infrastructure may log your IP address, browser type, referring URL, and pages visited for security and diagnostics. We do not use this data for behavioral profiling.
- Cookies and similar technologies. See Section 5 below.
3. How we use your information
- To create and manage your account and authenticate your sessions.
- To enforce free-tier usage limits and grant Pro-tier access.
- To send transactional emails (e.g., subscription receipts, password resets) and, if you opt in, announcement alert emails for companies you follow.
- To process payments and manage your subscription via Stripe.
- To detect fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
- To comply with legal obligations.
4. Advertising — Google AdSense
We display advertisements served by Google AdSense (Google LLC). By using the Service you acknowledge the following:
- Google uses cookies (including the
DoubleClickcookie) and similar tracking technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. - You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info.
- Google's use of advertising cookies is governed by the Google Advertising Policies.
- We may share non-personally-identifiable information (such as anonymised usage statistics) with Google to improve ad relevance.
5. Cookies
We use the following categories of cookies:
- Strictly necessary.
__session— an HTTP-only, secure, same-site cookie used to authenticate your session. This cookie cannot be disabled without breaking account functionality. - Payment. Stripe sets cookies to prevent fraud and ensure checkout integrity. These are governed by the Stripe Privacy Policy.
- Advertising. Google AdSense sets third-party cookies to personalise and measure ads, as described in Section 4. These are governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling cookies may affect Service functionality.
6. Data sharing and sub-processors
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only as necessary to operate the Service:
- Google Firebase — authentication and database hosting (Google LLC, USA).
- Stripe, Inc. — payment processing (USA). Stripe is a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. See stripe.com/privacy.
- Email delivery provider — transactional and alert emails on our behalf.
- Google AdSense / Google LLC — advertising services as described in Section 4.
- Law enforcement / legal process. We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of Spare Matter Corp, our users, or the public.
7. Data retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Subscription and billing records are retained for at least seven years to comply with financial record-keeping requirements. You may request deletion of your personal data at any time (see Section 9); residual copies in backups are purged on a rolling schedule.
8. International transfers
Spare Matter Corp is based in Ontario, Canada. By using the Service, you consent to your information being transferred to and processed in Canada and other countries where our sub-processors operate (including the United States). Where required, we rely on appropriate transfer mechanisms to protect your data in accordance with applicable privacy law, including Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
9. Your rights and choices
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Data portability — receive a copy of your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent).

10. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
11. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption in transit, HTTP-only session cookies, and access controls on our database. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated via email or a prominent notice on the Service.
