Company Profile

(1) High-quality germplasm Resources. M-GRASS has established the Inner Mongolia branch of the National Germplasm Bank for Forestry and Grassland, collecting and conserving 65,000 accessions of native germplasm resources from over 2,300 species, more than 170,000 plant specimens, and 1.65 million soil samples. These collections cover areas such as ecological restoration, forage grasses, authentic medicinal herbs, and specialty crops. (2) Research Platform Support. M-GRASS holds more than 30 national and autonomous region-level research platforms, including the National Forestry and Grassland Wind Erosion and Desertification Control Engineering Technology Research Center, the Key Laboratory of Land Fertility Protection and Improvement in Agricultural and Pastoral Areas of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the National Key Laboratory of Grassland Agriculture Ecosystems and Grass Innovation, the Inner Mongolia Laboratory for Grass Resources Development and Utilization, the Inner Mongolia Key Laboratory for Forage Breeding and Seed Propagation, and the Inner Mongolia Grassland Technology Innovation Center. In collaboration with more than 80 research institutes, universities, and enterprises, the company is jointly establishing the National Grass Industry Technology Innovation Center. This initiative aims to build a talent pool and innovation database for the grass industry, while accelerating the transformation of scientific research into practical applications. (3) Establishing Grass Seed Propagation Bases. M-GRASS has established 21 high-quality graass seed propagation bases across Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, Gansu, and Qinghai. It currently operates 280,000 mu (approx. 18,700 hectares) of seed propagation and forage cultivation land, along with 330,000 square meters of seed processing facilities. (4) Technology-Driven Core Products. Guided by ecological big data navigation, Based on native data related to water, soil, air, vegetation, fauna, and microorganisms, M-GRASS follows a “one-site, one-solution” approach, and has developed customized “seed pack” and “seed rope” products tailored to site-specific conditions. Each product combines tree–shrub–grass seed mixes with water-retaining agents, organic fertilizers, and microbial inoculants to address diverse ecological restoration needs. These seed products have been widely applied in ecological restoration projects such as the Chiluhuan Grassland, the Maowusu desert, and the Zhalainuoer mining area, setting demonstrative benchmarks across different ecological zones. The research titled “Development of a Degraded Grassland Restoration Technology System: Theoretical Innovation and Demonstration of Restoration Models” was awarded the First Prize of the Inner Mongolia Science and Technology Progress Award. Restoration sites such as the Chiluhuan Grassland, Helan Grassland, and Ulagai Grassland have been selected as part of China’s first batch of National Grassland Nature Park pilots. (5) Innovative Machinery for Ecological Restoration. By integrating independent R&D, equipment adaptation, and advanced technology introduction, M-GRASS has developed a full-cycle mechanized system for desertification control, with over 1,270 units of equipment covering site survey, power, cultivation, seeding, maintenance, and digital monitoring. This system has been widely applied in key restoration areas such as the Horqin Sandy Land, Hunshandake Sandy Land, East Ujimqin Banner, and Ulagai Grassland, ensuring the smooth progress of large-scale desertification prevention and control. The self-developed DCT seeder can operate continuously for 400 mu, allowing for a maximum land gradient of 60 centimeters. The self-developed sand fixation machine can lay sand barriers of nearly 30,000 meters daily, with uniform and stable quality. The grassland high-speed strip seeder works at a speed of 15 kilometers per hour, with a daily sowing capacity of 900 to 1,300 mu. (6) Corporate Honors. M-GRASS is a National High-Tech Enterprise and a recognized national leader in China’s forestry and agricultural industries. It is also designated as a National Intellectual Property Model Enterprise. In recent years, the company has received numerous prestigious honors, including a nomination for the China Quality Award, the China Green Environmental Responsibility Award, the China Ecological Civilization Award, and recognition as an Outstanding Private Enterprise under the national “10,000 Enterprises Help 10,000 Villages” initiative. It also received the First Prize of the Inner Mongolia Science and Technology Progress Award.

Full description

M-GRASS is a publicly listed company specializing in grass seed technology. It provides high-quality product supply and innovative technical services for ecological restoration and seed production. With a focus on “indigenous germplasm conservation” and “ecological big data navigation”, the company has made significant breakthroughs in key scientific challenges and built an integrated industrial system of conservation, breeding, propagation, and promotion. M-GRASS has formulated over 530 relevant standards, including the national standard Technical Specifications for Degraded Grassland Restoration (GB/T 37067-2018), and holds 545 authorized patents, ranking fourth globally among innovative entities in the grass seed industry. The company has selected and bred 295 species of indigenous plants for application across various ecological zones, and holds 105 plant varieties with independent intellectual property rights and usage rights. Among them, 25 grass species have been included in the National Forestry and Grassland Administration’s recommended seed list for the Three-North Shelterbelt Project. The company offers tailored ecological solutions for grassland, desert, mine, and derelict land restoration, as well as Yellow River Basin protection, sponge cities, and green space construction, helping to restore biodiversity and ecosystem resilience. To date, nearly 33 million mu (approx. 2.2 million hectares) of land has been restored. By fostering cooperation among governments, research institutes, energy firms, ecological companies, and local herders/cooperatives, the company is pioneering new models of desertification control and providing technological support for the Three-North Shelterbelt Project.
