As a key enterprise in the development and utilization of coalbed methane throughout the country, the company has initially formed a relatively complete business chain ranging from coalbed methane exploration, production, engineering design, gas well operation, to coalbed methane transportation, storage and wholesale sales. A technical system for surface extraction of coalbed methane with independent intellectual property rights has been formed, and a new model for gas prevention and control in coal mines has been established, which integrates gas production and coal mining. It has undertaken 30 provincial and ministerial science and technology projects, including National Science and technology major projects, Shanxi Province Science and technology major projects. It has a number of internationally leading core technologies and 56 national patents. Through large-scale extraction and utilization of coalbed methane, the company can greatly reduce the release of gas in the mining process of coal mines, and can also develop and utilize the gas in the goaf and abandoned mine to reduce the destruction of ozone layer caused by gas release, which is conducive to greenhouse gas reduction and safety production of coal mine. Replacing high emission energy with low emission intensity energy is an effective way to achieve carbon neutrality. As unconventional natural gas, coalbed methane has lower carbon emission intensity than coal and oil. Shanxi Blue Flame Holding Co., Ltd. (the predecessor are Shanxi Shenzhou Coal Electricity Coking Co., Ltd. and Taiyuan Coal Gasification Co., Ltd.) was established on December 22, 1998, mainly engaged in coal mine gas prevention and control ， coalbed methane exploration, development and utilization. The main product of the company is coalbed methane (coal gas), which is a hydrocarbon gas occurring in coal and its measure strata . The main component is methane, which belongs to high-quality clean energy. The products of the company are sold to customers in Shanxi and surrounding areas through pipeline transportation, compression and liquefaction, and mainly used in industrial and civil fields. The company is one of the main coalbed methane developers in China. After years of development, the upper, middle and lower reaches of coal-bed methane integrated industrial chain has been formed. Stable CBM production bases have been established in the upper reaches of the Shanxi Qinshui basin and the eastern margin of the Ordos Basin. In the middle reaches, the reasonable transportation and distribution are carried out by pipeline transportation and compression according to the principle of “Local utilization and surplus gas export”. The lower reaches have opened up a stable consumer market for urban gas and industrial gas in Shanxi and surrounding areas, the coalbed methane is mainly sold to natural gas pipeline companies, sales companies and liquefied natural gas production companies through direct marketing and marketization principles.
